But shoot- it’s finished now, comprising of material spanning the entire recording ‘career’ of The Golden Gonk and sounding every bit as horrific as I imagine it would’ve done back in ’08…fancy that!

What’s this, I hear you cry- another Gonk album started in 2008, worked on sporadically thereafter and only seeing the light of day in 2023?! EXPLAIN THIS MADNESS!! Well, I’d rather not if that’s OK with you, but yeah- here we are…as well as being the end of the label, after 20 long years and countless tapes, CD-Rs and downloads, ’tis also the end of the road for The Golden Gonk and all variations thereof. Not bad considering at the start I only ever intended on using the name for a year tops!
TGG was never really about big ‘statement’ albums or any of that crap- “Gonk est Mort” is no different in that respect, but I’m fairly happy with it and chances are that if you’ve enjoyed what I’ve cranked out in the past, then you’ll probably find something to tickle your earbuds here too!

Featuring contributions- mostly exclusive- by fine underground talent from all over the world, this beastly collection will keep you entertained for ooh, at least 3 hours and 41 minutes and- if you ask me- goes a log way to sum up the entire Shack in the Barley trip in one neat, 39-track package!
