Say it, say it, flay it…any tentacle you like, they’re all the same…a sucker for octopussy, flat out and locked in, spinnin’ Lard Free from fractured memory, aping with King Kong fists…say it, say it, spray it…splash feral fuzz upon sleepwalker cool, dazzling electric spunk, apply liberally, coat accordingly- any era you like…it always turns out the same, no matter how far you stretch it…

I started there and ‘ended’ here, ‘phones to the floor and eyes on the screen, plunking and perspiring, so far down the gingerbread trail- the fox got the chop, but the bear stood resplendent, all bloody and bright, but no steam in the steel- just a cork in the palm, tangled briars in the brain, not a soul in the bar, a mist atop lapping water, bodies buried on the island…

Black C50 cassette in a clear case with full colour artwork (each slightly different) and tape label, plus inserts.

Eggz Benidorm
– “Pottery Lions Roar When No One is Listening” (Shack in the Barley Productions, shitbar105) – £2.50 (not including shipping)

A) It Takes a Giraffe to Laugh, It Takes a Victorian Pottery Lion to Roar (14:13)
B) Pottery Lions Roar When No One is Listening (14:27)

The debut release from Eggz Benidorm, a group hailing from err…Benidorm!! By turns moody and filmic, cold and alien, fuzzy and saturated, gorgeous and melancholy, this is a compelling trip through a particularly scenic stretch of musical terrain. If you like Franco Battiato’s “Fetus”, Pink Floyd’s “More”, Island-era Jade Warrior and the first couple of Cluster records, then this diverse gem is for you!!

Yellow C30 cassette in a clear front/green back case with full colour artwork and tape labels, plus an insert.

Mink & Mutton
– “Three (Mink as Mutton)” (Shack in the Barley Productions, shitbar106) – £3.00 (not including shipping)

A) Mutton IV (16:47)
B) Mink IV (16:47)

With the release deadline looming and *still* nothing recorded, Mink & Mutton left it ’til June 28th this year to spawn their third grimy opus…talk about cutting it close…jeezus!! But- following on from a no doubt momentous viewing of “Evilspeak” on DVD- thankfully inspiration finally struck “somewhere inbetween the Sharapova/Riske match and Metallica playing Glasto” I’m assured…and yeah- err, you can really feel their combined energies!! Don’t be thinking this is some half-baked rush job, though- Mink & Mutton know what they’re fucking doing. Indeed- “Three…” is probably their finest yet!!

Red C35 cassette in a clear front/red back case with full colour artwork and tape labels, plus an insert.

The Golden Gonk
– “Songtrees…Plus” (Shack in the Barley Productions, shitbar009) – £3.00 (not including shipping)

A1) Sleeping on Clouds Causes Heartbreak (8:26)
A2) Easy Moribund Algebra Told Us Where the Easter Eggs Were (10:18)
A3) The Red Beasts of the Field, the Lady and the Wasp (3:51)
A4) Sunshine Onion Skins on a Holy Wall (5:31)
A5) Stained Green Apples Decay the August Moon (9:19)
A6) Cat in a Courtyard (3:05)
B1) Hallucinations of Mahogany Cafes Burning in Fields Caused Everyone to Explode Into Stars (18:24)
B2) Your Own Maniacal Laughter Consumed by the Humming of Numbing Inevitability (6:49)
B3) It Was Dusty in the Room Where I Broke the Kettle (10:17)
B4) A Cloud Imitating a Bush (3:25)

Ahhh, “Songtrees”…back in 2004 it was with this very album that I said “so long, see you later!!” to the five long, murky years spent recording (mostly) to cassette in the most primitive way imaginable and “hello!!” to the joys of digital recording, then burning the results to CD-R…imagine my excitement!! So yeah- all things considered, I thought it might be a laugh to celebrate the album’s 10th anniversary by re-issuing it as…A CASSETTE!!

This cassette is the definitive edition of “Songtrees”- indeed, not only do you get the sprawling 70+ minute album in all its improvised folkjazzrocknoise glory, but as a bonus I’ve included both tracks from the one and only Golden Gonk single!! These tracks were recorded during the same sessions as the album (at UCLan in Preston) and have been unavailable for 10 years!! If you missed out on the previous editions of “Songtrees”, then this is probably your last chance to get it…so you know what to do…

Pea green C85 cassette in a clear case with full colour artwork and tape labels, plus an insert.

– “Boiling” (Shack in the Barley Productions, shitbar107)

1) Tangent Travels (3:03)
2) She Haunts the Air All Around Me (3:13)
3) The Amazing Breast Showing Trick (3:08)
4) I Wish I’d Never Seen Your Face (3:43)
5) Magic Gaggle (2:53)
6) Pebbles in a Celtic Pond (4:22)

Six further audial abstractions dedicated to the hot, sticky days of super swell 2003, back when boys were crude, girls were ghosts, the sights were sumptuous and the sounds were something else. All corresponding cassette source material created in 2003, then remixed in 2013.
